Democrats take the Senate

For the first time in 12 years, the Democrats have regained control of the Senate.

While Republicans kept control of the House of Delegates, the Daily News-Record reports that Republicans in the Senate may lose committee chairmanships, along with the power to shape legislation.

As for Harrisonburg, the results listed on the Virginia State Board of Election's website may be unofficial, but the winners look clear.

Virginia SenateMark D. Obenshain (R) — 64.69 percent of votes
House of DelegatesMatthew J. Lohr (R) — 59.92 percent of votes
Clerk of Court — Chaz W. Evans-Haywood (R) — 25.08 percent of votes
Commonwealth's AttorneyMarsha L. Garst (R) — 97.72 percent of votes
SheriffDon W. Farley (I) — 97.65 percent of votes
Soil and Water Conservation Director Shenandoah Valley District — William Latham (I) — 53.84 percent of the vote

So those are the results. Let me know what you think by leaving me a comment.

Yeap... got it all right except that the new Clerk of Court at $123K/year is Chaz (not Dianne Fulk as virginia.gov reported the night of 11/7).

Still the winners are the Dems.
